The man in this photo was a rickshaw wallah. He had parked his cycle rickshaw next to a small Hindu temple on a city corner in Kathmandu and was waiting for customers.
His vehicle had an umbrella attached to it. The sunshine seemed to be strong here, even for the locals. In Nepal, I sometimes saw a cycle rickshaw with an umbrella. Likewise in sunny Myanmar, I saw pedicabs called "Saiq-ka" with an umbrella, and in Indonesia, there are pedicabs called "Becak" with an umbrella. But strangely enough, I don't think I've seen them in India or Bangladesh. Even in the same sunny places, I felt that sensitivity to sunshine is different in each country, with or without an umbrella.
The man was waiting for customers in a busy part of the city center. A large number of people were coming and going in front of him. But, unfortunately, the customers didn't seem to be coming in. He seemed to be bored. In the meantime, he found me in the midst of the hustle and bustle and was looking at me with his cheekbones as if he had found something interesting.
