After crossing the wide Yangon Strand Road, a ferry terminal building was erected along the river. Since there is no bridge over the Yangon River in downtown, all locals cross the river by ferry or small boat. I don't know how they use boats and ferries. Perhaps the price is different.
In any case, the area around the ferry terminal was crowded with people. There were many food stalls near the entrance of the building as if it were a festival or something, and on the side of the crowded street, pedicabs called "saiq-ka" were waiting for customers. Several pedicabs were lined up in a row, like a cab stand.
Before entering the ferry terminal, I approached the pedicab drivers. The pedicab driver at the front of the line was wearing a pith helmet like an adventurer would wear. To this man, the Yangon downtown area might as well be a jungle. When he noticed me, he grinned.
