The craftsman was working in a tanning pit
Many holes were built on the ground, which was surrounded by the buildings. They were tanning pits. Many craftsmen were working here. The peculiar odor filled this area. The smell came from the pits. It might be the smell of the stains.
A craftsman was just working in one of the pits. I approached him to look closer. Yet he didn't cast an eye on me. Because this place was one of the tourist attractions in Fez El-Bali, a foreign stranger was common for him. During watching, he kept bringing out the leathers and banking up them beside the pit.
