Walking along the Ayeyarwady River in Pyay, I came across a construction site with a crude hut on the side. When I peeked inside, I saw people sitting down. They must have been workers at the construction site. The workers stopped moving for a moment and looked at me. But soon they seemed to think it was nothing and went back to their food. The workers were in the middle of a friendly lunch together in their hut and didn't seem to have time to deal with a strange gentile. Hunger outweighed curiosity.
The workers are eating rice and side dishes in aluminum containers. In Myanmar, as in many other Asian countries including Japan, rice is the staple food.
