Leaving the food stall behind, I walked on and soon came across another stall. Food stalls are everywhere in the Pom Prap Sattru Phai district of Bangkok. At this stall, a stick of dough was on the table, and a man in a checkered shirt was in the process of cutting it into small pieces. What was he making? From the looks of it, it appeared to be a Chinese mandarin roll. Although this was not Chinatown, there are many overseas Chinese in Bangkok, and the man's face seemed to be of Chinese descent. The man was making Chinese food on the street in Bangkok.
I asked the man to get the right answer, but unfortunately, I didn't get the point. The man gives me an answer, but I didn't know what he said. It was one of those moments when I wished I knew the local language so I could have enjoyed the trip more. There are many occasions when I feel that way. But it is always when I get there that I realize it.
