While I was relaxing by the seaside in Fort, the old city of Galle, a man with a fine white beard came up to me. The man, who introduced himself as Mubarak, must have been a Muslim because he was wearing a typical Muslim cap called a Taqiyah. He was selling ice cream at the World Heritage-listed Fort.
The Fort is not only frequented by tourists, but also by many locals. It is a good place to sell something. Strangely enough, Mubarak, with whom I had a casual conversation, had no intention of selling ice cream to me. He just smiled and smiled, but did not ask me to buy it.
