A woman, who also had her left nostril pierced, smiled at the camera
A chubby woman was sitting on the side of the road. She had her ears pierced and her nose pierced. The nose piercing is still in her left nostril. This is Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is a place where Muslims are in the majority. The women are probably Muslim. Apparently, even Muslims believe that piercing the left nostril relieves menstrual pains and childbirth pains peculiar to women.
In any case, it is rare that a Muslim woman is willing to let me take her picture. Feeling very lucky, I pointed my lens at her and she smiled kindly at me.
