I found some girls playing Chinese jump rope in the street when I walked in the residential area. It made me feel a longing for the game. I remembered I also saw children playing the same game in Laos. Yet it became uncommon to see such children in Japan. At any rate, the game was played all over the Asian countries. According to its name, China is the cradle land. I wondered whether the children in other areas also played this game.
The girls played happily and their laughter echoed in the street. They were immersed in playing and paid little attention to me. I wanted to take photographs of them. Holding my camera, I looked into my viewfinder. Then, what I saw was the face of a boy. He was not interested in playing the game but in having his picture taken, unlike the girls.
