The sidewalks in the center of Yangon were crowded with many street vendors. The woman in the photo was one of them. She was wearing a white shirt with beautiful embroidery, thanaka painted on her face, and large gold earrings in her ears.

Many people in Myanmar apply thanaka to their faces, and there seems to be no set way of applying it. It varies from person to person. This woman's cheeks were clearly marked with brush patterns. It was a vigorous way of painting and looked a little cool.
