I was walking down an alleyway that stretches through a residential area of Jakarta. Even in January, it was hot here, which is located near the equator. When I walked in the residential area in a hot town, I sometimes felt lonely because I didn't see any locals around, but people here didn't seem to stay still in their houses even though it was a little hot. I could see the locals here and there in the alley. It might be because it is hotter to stay inside the house.
It wasn't all humans who were lingering in such alleys. As I walked, I often encountered cats as well. Cats are cats and they are relaxing on the side of the road at will. The cat in this photo was also sleeping comfortably on the tile next to the entrance.
Cats are said to choose a cool place to relax. When I saw the cat relaxing on the roadside, I guessed the front door was the coolest place in this cat's territory rather than inside the house or under the eaves. Indeed, there was a plastic tank next to the cat, which serves as a water jar. If there was an air-conditioned room in the house, it would be much cooler than this place, but it would be something they didn't have here.
