The sidewalks in Chinatown in Manila, like those in Taiwan, are built on the ground floor of buildings so that walkers are not directly exposed to the sun's rays. The lack of sunlight makes the streets a little cooler, so some people take advantage of this to cool off. It is the same for cats.
Walking along the sidewalk, I saw a cat sleeping with its paws outstretched in a defenseless position. It was in a very vigorous posture. Even though someone was walking right next to it, it didn't even twitch. Of course, it showed no sign of waking up when I approached it. It seemed to be sleeping soundly, full of a sense of powerlessness.
