A sandy beach stretched along the shoreline of Beruwala. The beach here was narrow. At high tide, most of the beach was so thin that it would be swallowed by the waves. And there was an island floating not too far off the beach. There was no bridge, of course, and there were no boats or ships anchored anywhere to cross the island. I could see towers among the trees, but I couldn't tell if there were any houses or people living on the island. The island is mysterious, floating under the setting sun. I would like to visit it, but unfortunately, I didn't know how to get there.
As I walked along the edge of the waves, I saw a boy standing there all by himself. In contrast to the ebbing and flowing waves, the boy was staring at the island without moving. Even for a local child, this island must seem mysterious. Maybe he wanted to go to the island as much as I did.
