I started walking toward the main shrine of Fushimi Inari-Taisha, which is perched on top of a mountain. The approach to the shrine is lined with a dense and seamless line of torii gates. It was like a tunnel. The tunnel went on forever, with no end in sight. The seemingly endless approach is enveloped in tranquility, and one can take the time to enjoy the serenity of the shrine.
As I was walking alone, I saw a young couple walking at the end of the path. They were holding hands as they walked leisurely down the tunnel-like path.
