A short walk from Hamamatsucho in the direction of Tamachi brought me to a quiet, open-mouthed elevated road. It is a narrow, pedestrian-only street, and its width is clearly unsuitable for automobiles. Its quietness and narrowness, in fact, give the impression that it is hiding something.
This elevated road, whose name I did not know, looked like it had been carved straight out of an old memory. The skeleton was bare, and the cold smell of metal seemed to be in the air. Stepping inside, it was as if one had wandered into an abandoned coal mine. The path, dimly illuminated by faint lights, reminded me of a mine shaft. If I had not seen the exit light in the distance, I probably would not have dared to leave myself in this darkness.
