The Noto Airport was built deep in the mountains in the middle of nowhere. I wondered why it had been built in such a remote place, deep in the mountains. It must have been a plan made when the bubble economy was in full bloom. The number of planes flying into the remote airport is also small. There were only two regular flights to Haneda Airport in Tokyo, which may have been affected by the reduced number of flights due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
When I went up to the observation deck on the second floor, I could see the empty tarmac and runway. There were no planes that had just landed on the runway, nor were there any planes about to take to the skies. It's rare to see a plane running on the runway. Beyond the runway, there was a line of mountains with thick trees, which made it clear that this airport was built on top of a mountain.
As I was doing this, a plane appeared out of nowhere and landed. The plane, which came to the airport deep in the tranquil mountains, was the sole focus of the people on the observation deck.
