It was raining, but the Hsing Tian Kong Temple in Taipei was full of worshippers. From the looks of it, the gods enshrined here were busy listening to the wishes of the visitors. Regardless of the weather, they are busy every day. If there were a labor code in the world of the gods, all the gods here at Hsing Tian Kong would be in violation of the labor code.
Gods in popular temples work hard. In that sense, they can be said to be in the popular business, just like celebrities. As long as they are popular, the money will keep coming in, but once their popularity declines, they will find themselves in a situation where they cannot make ends meet.
At Hsing Tian Kong, there was a cloister surrounding the courtyard. Benches were placed along it. Many worshippers were sitting on them. As I watched, a woman wearing a long blue coat crossed the cloister. This person in this outfit was a volunteer working at this temple.
