Some locals walked the lane and some locals stayed in their home in the residential area. Even though they found a strange foreigner walking with a camera, they didn't care about so much. I could bask in the ordinary life of the locals. No one tried to sell me. Exchanging greetings, I ambled about the lanes in a leisurely way. I could see not only the locals who walked the lanes but also the locals who were in their home because the doors were open. Most of the people in their home were lazy and relax.
However, I could see some locals who worked in their home. The woman in this photo was a kind of the locals. A power-operated sewing machine was placed in front of her and she was sewing. I saw many sewing machines during staying in this country. Yet this was the first time to see the power-operated sewing machine against the odds. In my opinion, it was still common to use a sewing machine with a foot treadle.
