The door of the shop, which was located on the town corner of Bhaktapur, was fully open. There was a foot-operated sewing machine in the shop, and two women were working there. This was a tailor's shop. A lot of fabric was seen hanging on the wall behind the women.
In Nepal, it was common to see people sewing with sewing machines. It looked like a phase of labor-intensive light industry, before a large scale industry was established. If you think about it that way, sooner or later, capital will be concentrated and all the factories will be large, and small-scale businesses like the one in the picture may disappear.
