Like other Chinese temples in Taiwan, Sanfong Temple, famous for its red lanterns, has a number of altars inside, like a multi-story house of deities. Time passes in the blink of an eye as one gazes at the red lanterns hanging in the courtyard from various angles and visits the deities enshrined in this room and that room. I had noticed the sound of firecrackers outside the temple, but paid little attention to them. Firecrackers are a good omen in Chinese culture.
Nevertheless, the sound of the firecrackers, which never ceased, gradually made me feel more and more suspicious. I felt something was going on, so I went out of the main entrance to the temple and found it filled with the smoke of firecrackers, and women with sticks with flags attached were dancing in the smoke. As I watched, wondering what was going on, more firecrackers started going off than ever before. In the midst of the smoke, a man wearing a yellow costume appeared, unlike the women who had been dancing. It was probably God. The god appeared with a boom and disappeared into the Sanfeng Temple with a boom. It seems that Taiwanese gods like to make a lot of noise.
