A tall tree was towering in the small square in Rikugien Garden. Some benches were placed near it. But nobody was sitting. The garden was wrapped with the silence. No buildings were seen from where I stood. When I walked around this garden, I almost forgot the fact I was in the heart of a metropolis.
This garden was a former mansion of a feudal lord. It was located in the suburbs of Tokyo at the time of construction. Yet it is surrounded by the dwelling now.
