Walking through the wholesale district, one can see goods being carried here and there by human power. The goods are brought to the wholesale district by trucks, but are finally delivered to their destinations by human hands. For this reason, couriers are constantly coming and going on the street, and carts with their cargo on them are parked here and there.
The man in the photo is one of them, and he was in the process of securely tying the luggage on the cart. Looking at the loads on the carts, they seemed to be of all different sizes and shapes. With such a wide variety of cargo, it was understandable that they had to rely on human power. Still, I thought that if the size and shape of the loads were standardized to some extent, the ease of transport would be greatly improved.
However, logistics in this city probably depends more on on-site resourcefulness than efficiency. This system itself, which manages to transport a wide variety of goods, may support the dynamism of the wholesale district. I was thinking about this as I watched the man's deftness.
