While walking along the narrow path leading to the village of Poitan, I came across a woman who clearly knew her strength. She was heading toward me, a massive load balanced on her shoulder. The road connecting the village to the main highway was too narrow for cars — meaning everything still had to be carried in and out by hand.
I wondered if postal workers did the same. If so, receiving mail in this village might make even the hardiest delivery person sigh in defeat. Whatever she was carrying, it looked big — and heavy. Yet she moved with calm determination, as if it were simply another part of life here.
