Walking slowly, I was returning to the center of Thanlyin. I noticed that the sky was gloomy and a light rain was falling. This is the rainy season in Myanmar, and if you think it is just a light rain, it can turn into a torrential downpour in no time at all. I naturally hurried to find a place to take shelter from the rain.
A bus converted from a pickup truck was parked in front of me. At this point, I was not looking for transportation, but a place where I could shelter from the rain. I felt a lot of stares as I was about to walk past the bus, as I had no use for it.
There were many students in school uniforms on the back of the bus with seats attached, all looking at me at the same time. This pickup truck seemed to be used as a school bus. They seemed surprised by the sudden appearance of a foreigner and looked at me with curious eyes. In the light drizzle, I stopped and pointed my camera back at the students, trying not to lose their gazes. As if in response, some of them gave me peace signs.
