After proceeding along the deserted road for a while, I arrived at my destination station in a daze. The location of the station was just as I remembered. Oak Pho Su station was the same small railroad station I had visited eight years ago. From the looks of it, the small station in the countryside had not changed at all from eight years ago. The long, narrow platform was as deserted as before.
As I wandered around by myself, I noticed a small village on the other side of the tracks. Curious, I decided to visit the village. There is only a stretch of railroad track and no crossing bridge or railroad crossing, so I crossed the track on foot to get to the village. It was just as I was crossing the tracks that I met the family in the photo.
A mother and several children were walking together. One of them was wearing a uniform similar to the one I had just seen. I don't know where they were headed. In any case, the children were very interested in the camera I was holding and looked happy when I pointed it at them. One girl happily gave me a peace sign.
