Wandering around Kannai in Yokohama, I crossed Nihon Odori Avenue, which is both the name of the town and the name of the street, and came very close to the sea. I continued to the Osanbashi Pier, which juts out into the sea. Although this is called a pier, it looks like a wharf from any angle.
Osanbashi is the main pier and passenger terminal of the Port of Yokohama and is equipped not only with facilities for customs clearance and immigration procedures, but also a large hall. On the rooftop, there is a wooden deck area and a grassed plaza, which is like a park that can be accessed freely 24 hours a day. The view of the ocean extends beyond the rooftop plaza.
Many people think it is worth coming to the Osanbashi Rooftop Plaza even if they do not need to board a cruise ship, and there were many people at the plaza. There were no tall buildings around the bridge, which juts out into the sea, and the rooftop plaza was directly exposed to the winter sun. Perhaps because it was on the sea, the sunlight was unexpectedly strong. Looking down, I saw silhouetted people walking along the wooden walkway.
