The building in which I stepped was dimly lit, with soft sunlight pouring in through the windows beyond the shelves on the window sill. The pottery and statues on the shelves were silhouetted. A number of Buddha statues and vases were placed on the shelves. The shelves had a very Chinese atmosphere.
The Chinese taste in art style is called chinoiserie, but this shelf is not in an antique shop. It is in a building in a Chinese garden called Lingering Garden, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is not chinoiserie, but a genuine Chinese style.
