A man was looking back at the roadside of Shantang Street, built in the Tang Dynasty
Old-fashioned buildings lined both sides of the narrow street. This is Shantang Street in Suzhou. It is said to be a town built in the Tang Dynasty, so it has a very long history. It was around the time when Abeno Nakamaro traveled to the mainland as a student to Tang China.
That said, it is hard to imagine that the stores operating in Shantang Street today have been around since that time. Even if the townscape as a vessel is old, the stores inside must not be that old.
A lantern was hanging from a building with such a history, and a man standing under a banner that was out was looking back as if he was searching for something.
