I was wandering around Dihua Street. The streets were lined with stores selling dried fruits, Chinese herbs, and various other things. Some of them were selling swallow's nest. Swallow's nest is a luxury ingredient in Cantonese cuisine. In Chinese culture, swallow's nest is believed to be good for one's health. When I think of swallow's nest, the only thing that comes to mind is soup, but I am not sure if there are other types of dishes. I wonder if swallow's nests are cooked at home in the first place.
While I was standing in the middle of the road watching the traffic, a man and woman came from the other side. They were carrying a box containing a large plastic bottle as well. They were pushing the box on the ground, as if they did not have a cart. As I watched them pushing the box as hard as they could, I felt as if I was watching some kind of competition. It was a box-pushing race. In fact, the man was a stout man with the physique of an athlete.
