Beyond the door with a gold Navagraha pattern on a black background stood Kansenden, the mausoleum of the second Lord Tadamune

The mausoleums in Kyogamine Park are not only those of Date Masamune, the founder of the Sendai domain, but also those of Tadamune the 2nd, Tsunamune the 3rd, Chikamune the 9th and Nariyoshi the 11th. For Nariyoshi, there is even the tomb of his wife. There are also the graves of the children of the 5th Yoshimura and subsequent lords who died prematurely. The area around Kyogamine Park is the graveyard of the Date family.

Of course, Zuihoden, the mausoleum of Masamune, is exceptional in this context. The mausoleum of the second Tadamune, Kansenden, and the mausoleum of the third Tsunamune, Zen'o-den, are also black and luxurious, like Zuihoden, but do not have the same magnificent gate and prayer hall as the Nirvana Gate. In the first place, they are treated differently.

Certainly the name value of Date Masamune, the founder of the domain, is outstanding. To be more precise, I have never even heard of any other lord of the Sendai domain other than Masamune. Only Date Masamune stands apart, and the other domain lords stand only vaguely behind a haze. Although the Date family continued until the Meiji era, no great lord emerged at the end of the Edo period who was bold, famous and held the casting board. It's no wonder I don't know mine.
