I had come to one of the many night markets in Taipei. This is the Ningxia Night Market, one of the three major night markets in this city. It's not very big, but it's a night market with a lot of food stalls. It is a good idea to come to this night market with an empty stomach. There are long-established and famous food stalls, as well as the main restaurant of Formosa Chang, which is not a food stall but is famous for its Minced pork rice. Most of the people seem to come here to eat something.
Even though the night market is famous for its gourmet food, some of the stalls sell other things than food. The store in the photo was a store selling watches. Many watches were displayed in glass cases in the narrow store, and the owner, a gray-haired man, was standing in the middle of the store.
In contrast to the food stalls, there seemed to be a peaceful atmosphere in this store, perhaps because there was not a single customer. I guess many people come to the night market to eat, but not many come to buy watches. The man who owned the store stood still with a pipe in his mouth.
