After passing through the maze of alleys in Tainan, we found ourselves in front of a neat and orderly boulevard. It was a bit disconcerting that our exploration of the alleys was over in just a few moments. Cars and motorcycles were constantly driving on the boulevard. The number of motorcycles was a little high, but not so different from those in urban areas in Japan. The only difference is that all the signs decorating the streets are written in traditional Chinese characters. In this orderly landscape, one misses the chaotic atmosphere of the back alleys.
I stopped at an intersection and watched the traffic flow by in a daze. When the light turns green, the bikes start moving in unison. They move in an orderly fashion, everyone obeying traffic rules and keeping order. Although reassuring to watch, I found the predictable flow a bit tedious. As someone who loves chaotic energy and unpredictable events, this scene was somewhat lacking.
Still, I pull out my camera and take a picture. Even if what I take is mundane, there may be something I can capture by standing in the scene. I kept pressing the shutter button, trying to find even the slightest bit of interest in the orderly scenery.
