The ferry smoothly crossed the Chao Phraya River and arrived at the other side of the river. I was now in the Thonburi district of Bangkok. Although Thonburi is now treated as a part of Bangkok, it was originally a separate town. It was the capital of the Thonburi Dynasty, the dynasty that preceded the current Chakri Dynasty, for only 15 years. However, there are no major tourist attractions and it is not a place for tourists.
When I got off the ferry and left the pier, I found ourselves in a noisy marketplace. I immediately had to walk through the crowds. I made my way through the crowd and exited onto a large street. It was a busy street. There were many cars coming and going, and songthaew trucks were parked on the side of the road for people who came to the market to shop. One of them seemed to be about to leave and its seats were occupied. All the passengers were women. As I stood behind the back of the truck, which was used as a seat, my eyes met those of the women. When I held up my camera, they smiled at me in unison.
