Whenever I visit the Tokyo International Forum in Yurakucho, I always feel refreshed. The reason for this is the openness of the lobby gallery. The gallery, shaped like a rugby ball, has a glass wall near the ceiling and on one side, which absorbs sunlight well. So on a sunny day, the gallery is filled with sunlight. On this day, too, soft sunlight was pouring into the gallery.
Sometimes some events are held in the lobby gallery, but on this day, there seemed to be nothing going on and the gallery was deserted. There were only a few people who seemed to be waiting for each other. A young man standing with his legs crossed seemed to be waiting for someone to come.
The gallery was spacious, with high ceilings. I wondered if there was anywhere else in the surrounding streets where I could experience such a sense of openness. And then I thought to myself, "This sense of openness is due to the fact that this is the Tokyo International Forum. This sense of openness represents the latitude that Tokyo had when the Tokyo International Forum was built. I don't know if Tokyo still has the same level of spaciousness.
