Since the hotel where I was staying was very close to the Erawan Shrine, it was my daily routine during my stay in Bangkok to pay my respects at the Erawan Shrine before going out. Erawan Shrine is bustling with people from early in the morning. The shrine is open to visitors from 8:00 a.m., and visitors come to pray without interruption. The small shrine dedicated to the Hindu god Brahma is very popular among the locals. It is believed that if you pray here, your wishes will come true.
Since visitors come to the shrine with their own wishes, there must be a lot of wishes swirling around the shrine grounds. Some of them may have come true, and some may not. In any case, this place has nothing to do with enlightenment, such as being free from Buddhist worries. Everyone here is seeking worldly benefits.
A young boy was innocently playing on a bench placed at the edge of the shrine. Unlike other visitors, the boy was not interested in Brahma. Unlike the majority, this boy did not seem to have any wishes to bring.
