The precinct was deserted and wrapped with the silence. The deities enshrined here could have too much time on their hands. What I could hear was only the song of small birds. A Shinto water ablution pavilion stood in a corner of the precinct. Its sheet copper roofing was dusty.
A smoking place was set up beside the pavilion. And a man was smoking a cigarette while sitting on the bench. The place was so silent that it was a nice place to take a rest without being interrupted.
