Resting In Shinto Shrine

Water ablution pavilion and man

A man was smoking in the precinct

Shot at Hikawa Jinja in Kitasenju, Tokyo.

The precinct was deserted and wrapped with the silence. The deities enshrined here could have too much time on their hands. What I could hear was only the song of small birds. A Shinto water ablution pavilion stood in a corner of the precinct. Its sheet copper roofing was dusty.

A smoking place was set up beside the pavilion. And a man was smoking a cigarette while sitting on the bench. The place was so silent that it was a nice place to take a rest without being interrupted.
