It is human nature to want to enter a place when we are told we are not allowed to. When I hear that the general public is prohibited from landing on Okinoshima Island, which has been registered as a World Heritage site, I suddenly feel the urge to visit the island. However, it is difficult to actually take action. In most cases, the place is forbidden for religious reasons. Therefore, if I break the prohibition and step into the forbidden area, I feel that I will be possessed in some way, which is a hurdle for me, a timid person who is not deeply religious.

This hurdle was also high when I came to the 'Yawata no Yabushirazu,' a forbidden place that appears when walking near Motoyawata Station. It is an ordinary bamboo grove along a busy road diagonally across from Ichikawa City Hall, but it is a forbidden place. I stopped to look at the bamboo thicket and found that there was a small Shinto shrine called Shirazunomori Shrine standing along the road, but there was no entrance to the bamboo thicket. It is said that if you enter the shrine, you will never be able to get out again or that it is haunted, so it is only natural that it is inaccessible. The only thing blocking my way was a low fence that I could easily climb over, but as a timid person, I felt as if something disturbing was waiting for me on the other side of the fence, making me feel that the fence was incredibly high.
