Although the Taiwan boom continues in Japan, most visitors seem to stay in Taipei. Unlike the bustling Taipei, Tainan seems a bit quieter. Few people actually make the trip to Tainan, and even fewer tourists venture outside the tourist attractions to explore the city. Away from such tourist attractions, there is a tranquil atmosphere and daily life flows slowly.
I was walking through a residential area. I chose a street lined with old-fashioned low-rise houses, not a tourist attraction. The atmosphere of the quaint streets had a charm that could not be found in tourist attractions. There, the old houses still lived and breathed, and the daily lives of the people were firmly rooted.
The road was quiet and peaceful, but occasionally we could hear the sound of motorcycles passing by. It seemed to be part of the rhythm of life in this town. It was the unique atmosphere of this residential area that made me stop in my tracks, something I could not feel in the more touristy areas. Even if there were no special places of interest, the entire town seemed to be full of charm.
