I rarely pay attention to the location of the depot when I ride a train. But it is strange. As I rode the tram toward Yunokawa, Hakodate. I was fascinated by the train depot that appeared on my right. Intrigued by the sight of so many trams parked there, I paid my respects at Yukura Jinja Shrine and walked straight to the rail yard I had seen from the tram.
The official name of the rail yard, which can be seen from the street, is Komaba Garage. It seems to be the only garage for Hakodate trams, as the three former garages have been closed due to streamlining. In other words, all trams depart from and return to this garage. It is literally the heart of Hakodate Tram. Looking inside the garage, I found trams that were not in service resting quietly.
Since I had come all the way to the garage, I wanted to see the trams leaving the garage or entering the garage. So I waited patiently on the sidewalk in front of the garage with my camera ready, but no trams came out of the garage or came back. I was excited to see a tram moving in the back of the garage, but it only changed its stopping position in the garage for a moment and did not come out of the garage. Too bad.
