The man in the running shirt was one of the workers busily working in the market in Kolkata. He was in the middle of carrying a large basket on top of his head. Most of the work here is still done manually. It sounds like it would be more cost-effective to mechanize, but most of the workers would probably lose their jobs if that happened. If that happens, a machine destruction movement like the Luddite movement might start.
Upon closer inspection, I saw that he had a large cushion between the basket and his head. Otherwise, the basket would not be stable when placed directly on the head, and it would be painful. Observing in the market, many people, not just in India, use cushions to put things on their heads, like this man.
