Temples stand side by side in the wide, cobblestone square. This is Bhaktapur's Durbar Square, which is also registered as a World Heritage Site. It used to be the center of royal power, with the king residing in the royal palace that stands in one corner of the square. But the king is no longer there. The temples that stand in the square has been both religious facilities and tourist attractions.
However, it was not only worshippers and tourists who came to this square. There were also many locals. As I wandered around, I noticed many locals relaxing in the square, making it a place of relaxation.
A boy on a bicycle was running around in such a square. In Bhaktapur, where there are few flat areas, there are few places as flat as this. It must be nice to be able to run around as much as he wants here. The boy was happily pedaling his bicycle in the square where the Vatsala Durga Temple and Pashupatinath Temple stand.
