The woman in the beret was happily buying Aiyu jelly at the Chenggong Market
This was the last day of my stay in Taiwan. I had to catch an afternoon flight back to Tokyo. After shopping for souvenirs in town, my next stop was a local market called Chenggong Market. I had already been to this market during my stay in Taiwan, and the local atmosphere was a fitting end to my stay.
The market, built next to an apartment complex, was busy that day as well. I had already bought some souvenirs, so there was nothing in particular to buy at the market. I walked around the market, soaking up the local atmosphere, looking at the things for sale and the people working there. Eventually, I came to a store selling sweets. On the table were several bowls of jelly. The lemon-like fruit on top of the jelly was probably Aiyu jelly.
A woman wearing a beret was just buying the Aiyu jelly. She looked very happy. Good food makes people happy in any country. But if you eat too much of it, it can cause obesity.
