There were not many people walking in the sunny old town of Luang Prabang. As I trudged along the deserted streets, I saw the figure of a young Buddhist monk in the backlight. The silhouetted monk's shadow was clearly visible on the ground. The monk was just returning to the temple grounds.
The young monk had not returned from an outing. He had bought some juice at a small grocery store across the street from the temple and was heading right back to the temple. Even though he was an ordained monk, he was still a child. Sometimes he must want to drink the sweet, sweet juice that is so abundant in the mundane world.
