It was a foggy morning. I had gone into town to see the morning market in the center of town. There are Buddhist temples everywhere in Luang Prabang. There was also a temple near the morning market.
As I peeked into the temple grounds, I saw a small hall beyond the morning mist. At the entrance stood a Buddhist monk clad in an orange robe. Perhaps he had just returned from his morning almsgiving.
As in other temples, the edge of the roof of this temple has a slightly unusual decoration. It looks like horns. This is a temple decoration that can also be seen in Thai temples, and it represents a bird called Garuda that appears in Indian mythology. In Buddhism, it is a divine bird that is believed to fly through the three worlds, the universe, and the world with Buddha on its back.
