There were many stalls on the sidewalk of the Strand Road, but the night market was not very busy as a whole, and there was a peaceful atmosphere in the market. Not many people seem to come all the way to the night market. That can't be helped. The stalls here were not specially set up for the festival, and they were just the same as in other places in Yangon. The wide Strand Road that stretches across the night market is a place for cars to gallop along at a brisk pace. Most of the people who visit the night market are probably neighbors.
The young mother in this photo must be from this neighborhood. She was dressed casually, in what could be called pajamas, and relaxed. Perhaps she had come here because the baby was having trouble sleeping. The baby was lying on the mother's lap. When I pointed the camera at such a mother and her child, she noticed me and looked at me with her mouth wide open.
