The Courtauld Museum of Art in London is famous for its collections of impressionist and post-impressionist art. As the name of the museum suggests, it was established based on the collection of Samuel Courtauld, a businessman.

It is amazing that he had such a private collection that he could open a museum. However, there are quite a few museums in the world that are based on private collections.

Even in England, there is the Saatchi Gallery based on the private collection of Charles Saatchi, and the Wallace Collection based on the private collection of Richard Wallace, and the Guggenheim Museum in the United States is the collection of Solomon R. Guggenheim. The Morohashi Museum of Modern Art in Japan is based on the collection of Teiji Morohashi, the founder of the sportswear retailer Xebio. There are a lot of rich people in this world.

The collection of this museum is wonderful. However, the staircase in this photo was equally beautiful. A woman who was walking down the stairs, which looked like a molehill, stopped midway and looked down the stairs. I guess she was just as curious about the vaulted ceiling as I was.
