There was a spiral staircase in the Courtauld gallery

The Courtauld Gallery in London is famous for its Impressionist and Post-Impressionist collections. As the museum's name suggests, it was established based on the collection of Samuel Courtauld, a businessman. It seems amazing that a private collection would be enough to open a museum, but there are many museums in the world that are based on private collections.

In England, there is the Saatchi Gallery, based on the private collection of Charles Saatchi, and the Wallace Collection, based on the private collection of Richard Wallace. The Guggenheim Museum in the United States is the collection of Solomon R. Guggenheim. In Japan, the Morohashi Museum of Modern Art is based on the collection of Morohashi Teizo, founder of the sports and apparel retailer Xebio, and the collection of the National Museum of Western Art is based on that of Matsukata Kojiro, president of Kawasaki Dockyard Co. There are more people with money in the world than one might think.

The collections of this museum are wonderful. But the staircase in the photo is just as beautiful. A woman walking down the winding staircase stopped midway and peered down. I guess she was interested in the stairwell as much as I was.
