The Museum of the Imperial Collections, located in the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, is an art museum that houses artifacts from the Imperial Household. There are eight national treasures here, but it is difficult to see them all, as they are opened to the public only sporadically. The national treasure on display that day was a copy of the Sarashina Nikki by Fujiwara no Teika (the selector of the Ogura Hyakunin Isshu, a set of 100 poems by 100 poets).
