A truck was parked in Wanhua District and a man wearing an orange T-shirt was standing beside it. He was a street vendor and selling bananas there. And a woman was just buying. Taiwan is one of the production areas of banana. So what he sold could a domestic product.
It is said this island was the northern limit to cultivate banana. Once Taiwanese banana was one of the major fruits in Japan until Ecuadorian and Philippine bananas dominated the market in the 1970s. Yet Taiwanese banana still enjoys an enduring popularity in Japan.
