The girl with earrings was staring at my camera
A girl was sitting alone in a small shop I passed in Kolkata. It was a girl with an earring. Unlike in Japan, many girls in India have had piercings since they were very young. When I pointed the camera at her, she stared straight into the camera.
The girl had a happy and surprised look on her face. She seemed to enjoy having her photo taken, but at the same time, she seemed a little nervous. It was understandable. A foreigner who appeared out of the blue, who didn't speak the language, asked her to take her photo.
