Sainen-ji Temple, located in a residential area, is said to have been founded by the ninja Hattori Hanzo. Hanzo's grave is also located here. However, the precincts of the temple are deserted and no one seems to have visited the temple to pay their respects. Hattori Hanzo is so famous that there is no one who does not know him, but not many people visit his grave. Perhaps many people think that a ninja chieftain is a fictional story. The temple grounds were quiet without visitors, and Hattori Hanzo's grave stood quietly in a corner.
Near the grave of Hattori Hanzo, a number of stone statues were erected. All of them are old. The inscription reads "Horeki," which means about 250 years ago. Unfortunately, the heads of some of the statues were broken, but others were relaxing in the sun, resting on their cheekbones. The stone statue that was relaxing looked as if it had gotten tired of waiting for someone to come.
