Jizo In The Sun

Jizo statues by roadside
Shot in the city of Kamakura, Kanagawa tetsuOzawa

The statue stood in the sunny spot

Some statues were placed by the wayside. And one of them was in the sunlight as if it stood in the spotlight. It was putting its hands together while it closed its eyes. Jizo is Kshitigarbha in Engish and is a Bodhisattva.

I didn't know why these jizo were placed here. Maybe this place was a sort a religious place. Or they were praying for people who were traveling. Jizo is also thought as Dosojin which are believed to protect travelers from evil spirits.
